The road less travelled

The stationing committee met last week and we now know where we'll be living and working next year! We don't know much about the area, but the circuit name is Khunwana and the ministers in that circuit use Delareyville as their postal address. Friends of ours from Maritzburg have been sent to Schweizer-Reneke, which is just down the road from Delareyville.

So, we'll be dusting off our Afrikaans, trying to learn as much SeTswana as possible and preparing for life in the dry, rural North-West. It's a whole new part of the country to explore and we are very excited.

But there will be some driving ... We'll be 800km from Pietermaritzburg and just under 300km from Jabavu/Soweto (where our weekly lectures will be held). How many games of I spy can one fit into those sorts of trips?

The non-resident geographer's contribution:

Delareyville
Population: 1600 (increasing to 1602 in the near future)
Facilities: Olympic size swimming pool and caravan park
Reserves to visit when we staying at your house: Barberspan, a 2000ha dam, largest of it's kind in the southern hemisphere apparently. RAMSAR wetland. And it's only 10 miles away.

Hey friends,

It was great to see you at the seminary. I am so pleased that you could make it. Sorry I couldn't spend any time chatting - things were quite pressed as you could see.

I am so pleased that we have two more Bishops in our ministry! You must be the VERY FIRST Bishops to take up a rural station in the MCSA.

Why? You're a gift!

Blessings as your journey begins.

I hope you find a place from which to blog in Atamalang? Or wherever it is. I think there's an internet cafe on every corner!

Weirdly enough we're all going to be colleagues for a very long time!

God Bless - and the force be with you.
